Node.js
Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform, back-end, JavaScript runtime environment that executes JavaScript code outside a web browser.
Eternaltwin uses Node.js for its website and various command-line tools.
Installation
⚠ Eternaltwin requires Node.js >=20.11.0 (see engines.node in the root
package.json).
The recommended way to install Node.js is through a version manager, so you
can switch versions per-project and avoid needing sudo for global installs.
Linux or Mac
- Install
nvm(orfnm, a faster alternative written in Rust). - Run
nvm install --lts(orfnm install --lts) to install the latest Long-Term Support release.
Check your installation with node --version.
⚠ Most Linux distributions provide a nodejs or node package. This is a
system-level package intended as a dependency for other software. It is
recommended to avoid using this version: it requires sudo to install
global packages using npm and may be an older version that does not support
some projects.
Windows
Either install fnm and run
fnm install --lts, or download the official Windows
installer and execute it.
Check your installation with node --version.
